notes: notes: This new band comes from Bern, Switzerland. The name KALEIDOPHONE is a combination between 'kaleidoscope' (the old-toy, which creates beautiful visual color ornaments) and the 'headphone'. Maybe KALEIDOPHONE will sign the experimental electronic history, entering the Guinness Book of Records for the fastest release... That's incredible, they've recorded this first full length album in a night session only, playing most of the melodies/structures live. Old analog synths (Korg MS20, Roland Juno 106, Moog Prodigy,...) and many effects (delays, echoes, reverbs,...) are the fundamental ingredients here. Samplers were completely forgotten... but a wicked acoustic guitar was played on the last track! The title 'Borders' comes from the fairy tale that describes the world as a plate. KALEIDOPHONE have intentionally chosen for this project the warmer side of sound, producing 13 bizarre and enigmatic audio environments harmonized by plastic and incredible minimal rhythms. 'Borders' is definitively a fluid and organic album, don't hiding a strange sense of humor. Once upon a time...
